Basic Criminal Records Check (Basic Disclosure)

A Basic Criminal Records Check sometimes known as a Basic Police Check  or Basic CRB is the lowest level of disclosure and checks the Police National Computer (PNC) for details of all current criminal convictions (convictions considered unspent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974).

A Basic Disclosure Certificate will give these details or it will confirm there are no such convictions.

Who can apply for a Basic Criminal Records Check?

  • available to anyone who lives or has lived in the UK
  • any individual in their own name for any purpose
  • self employed
  • for visa applications
  • for a Personal Liquor/Premises Licence application
  • for a new job or volunteer work
  • for pre-employment/recruitment vetting (written consent required from employee)
  • Landlord/Letting agents tenant checking (written consent required from tenant)

On receipt of you application pack, fill in the application form as directed, and return in the envelope provided to Mayflower Disclosure Services Ltd with clear photocopies of your identiy documents as follows:

1.        Passport, Driving License or Birth Certificate plus

2.        Utility bill that confirms current address plus

3.        One more ID document from list below 

Marriage/Civil Partnership Certificate

Financial Statement **- e.g. pension, endowment, ISA

Driving Licence (UK) (Full or provisional) -England/ Wales/ Scotland/ Northern Ireland/ Isle of Man ; either photo card or old style paper ( a photo card is only valid if with paper counterpart)

Valid Vehicle Registration Document

P45/P60 Statement (UK)

Mail Order Catalogue Statement *

Bank/Building Society Document**

 Court Claim Form (UK) ** - Documentation issued by Court Services

Utility Bill*- electricity, gas, water, telephone, mobile phone bill

Exam Certificate e.g. GCSE, NVQ, O Levels, Degree 

Valid TV Licence

Addressed Payslip *

Credit Card Statement

Valid NHS Card (UK)

Store Card Statement

Benefit Statement*- e.g. Child Allowance, Pension

Mortgage Statement

Certificate of British Nationality  (UK)

Valid Insurance Certificate

British Work Permit/Visa  (UK) **

Letter or a document from a Government Department*

Asylum Registration card

Disclosure Scotland Disclosure Certificate **

Letter from a Head Teacher *

*documentation should be less than three months old
